If you choose the longer ride, you’ll visit the charming Museum of Apples and Cider, where you’ll learn more about local traditions and enjoy a tasting of the region’s delicious cider.
At the end of the day, you’ll arrive in the lovely town of Villeneuve-sur-Yonne, a hidden gem full of charm and history. This lesser-known French town is known for its medieval gate towers, historic streets, and peaceful atmosphere.
Spend the evening exploring at your own pace, strolling through town or simply enjoying the beautiful surroundings as the sun sets over the Burgundian countryside.
Today’s ride starts with a beautiful cycling route along the river toward the charming town of Saint-Julien-du-Sault. Here you may wish to visit the lovely 13th-century Saint-Pierre church, known for its impressive stained-glass windows.
From there, you’ll continue to Joigny, one of Burgundy’s most charming wine towns. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic ride through the surrounding vineyards, where rolling hills and beautiful countryside create the perfect setting for a memorable day on the bike.
A true highlight for wine lovers awaits later today, when your tour leader will take you for a tasting of authentic local Burgundy wines. This is the perfect opportunity to discover the flavors that have made this region famous around the world.
Joigny itself is well worth exploring. This picturesque town has a rich wine history and is known for its beautiful half-timbered houses, elegant Renaissance façades, and charming historic streets. Take some time to wander around and soak up its authentic Burgundian atmosphere.
Enjoy another relaxed breakfast onboard as the barge sails to Migennes, located at the junction of the Burgundy Canal and once an important center of the shipping industry.
From Migennes, you’ll hop back on your bike and continue south, following the beautiful Yonne River through the heart of Burgundy. Today’s ride offers lovely scenery, peaceful cycling paths, and charming views of the surrounding countryside.
Your destination is the historic city of Auxerre, one of the highlights of the tour. With its majestic church spires, charming streets lined with 16th-century timber-framed houses, and rich history, Auxerre is a wonderful place to explore.
Be sure to visit the impressive Saint-Etienne Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. You may also enjoy a stroll along the old port or a visit to the town’s beautiful 15th-century clock tower.

Today is a wonderful day to enjoy Auxerre at your own pace. If you feel like taking it easy, you can spend the day wandering through this beautiful historic city, exploring its charming streets, lively squares, shops, and cafés.
For those eager to get back on the bike, there is the option to join your guide for another scenic ride through the surrounding countryside | 18/26 miles (28/41 km). Cycle along the Yonne River to visit the famous Caves de Bailly, known for its sparkling Crémant de Bourgogne and impressive underground limestone cellars.
Along the way, you’ll also pass through the nearby vineyards of Saint-Bris and Irancy, two well-known wine villages that offer a wonderful glimpse into Burgundy’s rich wine tradition. Art lovers may also enjoy a visit to the Chapelle de Bailly, home to the paintings of local artist Georges Hosotte.

After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye. Disembarkation takes place after breakfast until 9:00 a.m.

The cook prepares all meals: a substantial breakfast and a three-course dinner of very good quality. A packed lunch may be prepared after breakfast. Tea and coffee will be ready when you arrive on board in the afternoon. There’s a bar on board with reasonably-priced beer, wine, and soft drinks.
If you have special meal requirements, please mention this when booking. In the case of a Gluten free and lactose free diet there is an additional charge of €70 per week.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer vegan meals. This is because the kitchens in our ships are not large enough to guarantee that the food can be prepared completely vegan. The available space on board is limited, so the chefs cannot store the necessary tools and supplies to prepare vegan food.

On some days you can choose between a longer and a shorter cycling route. Please note that on the shorter routes you may not be able to visit all the highlights mentioned.
If you prefer not to cycle on a particular day, you’re welcome to stay on board and relax while the ship cruises to the next landing place.
The tour itinerary and route are subject to possible changes due to nautical, technical or meteorological reasons, or other unforeseen events.
On the arrival day, you can leave your luggage on board the ship from 11.00 am.
A detailed cycling map and a GPS app are available for guests who wish to cycle individually and at their own pace. The tour guide is always available via cell phone in case of questions, breakdowns or emergencies.
