Why VGT?
Family-run business
As a small and family-run business, we care about each and every one of our clients. We want to be certain that you will have a vacation that will meet or exceed your expectations and give you a trip that you’ll never forget. We offer:
Friendly, personal service
Whether it’s finding a tour that fits your ability and desired location or helping you to navigate the confusing french transit website, we want to make sure your holiday is just right! As a small, family-run business, we’ve always got time to chat with you, whether you’ve got questions before the tour or want to share photos with us after your holiday. When you get in touch with us, you’ll be speaking to VGT’s owner Denise. You can always expect a friendly, helpful conversation in true VGT style!
Passionate, experienced guides
Our guides love sharing their passion for natural beauty, culture, history, and cuisine – and they’ve all got years of experience leading tours! Keeping the VGT family tradition going after 25 unforgettable years, Denise personally leads seven tours (which happen to be her favorites). We also have two local guides on our staff who can show you lesser-known treasures and answer your questions about local life and people. When we can’t personally join you, our partner company’s guides have experience and passion that’s got the VGT stamp of approval. With our guides, you won’t just get a tour – you’ll get an experience.
Excellent itineraries
We’ve hand-crafted and selected excellent itineraries that explore the unique cultures, landscapes, and cuisines of our six favorite European countries. Our routes take you through picturesque landscapes to explore the highlights and hidden treasures of each region, with high-quality food and overnight stays in lovely locations for the perfect active holiday. With a variety of routes in each area, and difficulty levels ranging from beginner to those who cycle more regularly, we’ve got something ideal for you. And there’s not one tour we wouldn’t go on ourselves!
Hand-picked hotels and restaurants
A holiday in Europe should always mean delicious food and excellent hotels! Allthough we’re a small family-run business, over 25 years we’ve built up strong relationships with local hotels and restaurants, and personally tried them or received recommendations from our clients. Enjoy authentic, traditional dishes made from fresh local produce, and, after a long active day (with at least one coffee break and a stop for some delicious lunch), relax in a comfortable room in some lovely locations.
Small group sizes
Our small, intimate group sizes will allow you to experience local life and enjoy a sense of camaraderie you just don’t get on typical large tours! Emma’s tours have a maximum of 12 to 14 people, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local ambience and enjoy talking with your guides and fellow travellers. On some of the barge tours there are slightly larger groups with an average of 24 people. We visit restaurants, stay in hotels, and explore some quiet locations that are just not possible for typical larger groups. It also opens up more opportunities for you to chat with your guide, or even explore on your own. You can make these tours your own!
