We love Europe, and we want to show you why!
Our small, family-run company is built on a passion for travel, meeting new people, and truly experiencing different places.
It started in 1992, when two American school teachers with the travel bug decided to lead a handful of European bike tours as a way to fund their own adventures. Huibertha van Teunenbroek and Mike Sorgi’s love for stunning scenery, culture, history, and great food – along with a natural love for people – made them excellent guides, and before long Van Gogh Tours had become a full-time business. Their granddaughter, Emma Lewin, shared their adventurous genes and (after a few years learning the ropes) took over running the company in 2013. In 2014, Emma’s mother, Susan Guest, joined us to help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes!
Over the past 25 years, we’ve built a deep base of experience and local knowledge that we’ve used to hand-craft scenic, heritage-rich cycling and walking tours in our six favorite countries in Europe. Between the three generations of VGT, we’ve designed, refined, and led each “Emma-led” bike or walking tour, slept in each hotel, and tasted the dishes at each restaurant. For the tours where we aren’t available to join you, we’ve developed great relationships with local businesses in order to offer tours through a few partner companies who bring an additional level of experience and local knowledge.
Keeping with tradition, Emma personally leads seven of the tours in Holland, Belgium, and France – something she looks forward to each year! We have two other locally-based guides who share our vision for the perfect guided European holiday. And while we can’t be on every tour with you, we’ve personally sampled our partner’s tours and their well-trained guides will ensure your trip is delivered to our high standard in true “Van Gogh” style.
We’ve got a reputation for providing a friendly, personal service from our family business, and we pride ourselves on that! We’d like to personally introduce you to the best of Europe, and share our knowledge and appreciation for its natural beauty, culture, history, and cuisine.
So, Go with Van Gogh! We can’t wait to meet you.
